Diploma in Dental Hygienist

Overview

The Diploma in Dental Hygienist program is designed to train individuals in the field of dental hygiene. A dental hygienist is a person who scales, cleans, or polishes teeth or gives instructions regarding dental hygiene under the supervision of a registered dental surgeon.

Course Structure

The course includes theory and practical sessions, covering basic anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, pathology, microbiology, radiology, dental hygiene, community dental health, dental ethics, and dental materials. Basic knowledge of computers, jurisprudence, and orientation to dentistry is also included. The course comprises year-end examinations in each year, which include theory, oral, and practical components.

Eligibility

• Duration: 2 years (full-time)
• Eligibility criteria:
  • The candidate should be at least 17 years old at the time of admission and medically fit to pursue the course.
  • The candidate must have passed 10+2 or two years of intermediate or equivalent course with science subjects (physics, chemistry, and biology) from a recognized Indian university or pre-university/intermediate board.
